CVS is a great program, if a bit arcane.

Export

This line exports the current CVS trunk of Xana:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/xanaweb export -Dtomorrow xanaweb

Setup for CVS over SSH

Set the environment variable CVS_RSH:

export CVS_RSH=ssh

Then, simply lead CVS commands with the -d switch as necessary:

cvs -d:ext:username@cvs.sf.net:/cvsroot/myproject checkout xanaweb
